There's something about flashlights. I don't know why, but gun enthusiasts also like good flashlights. The Xenon "tactical" flashlight is very popular. The "Surefire" is very well-known. Less expensive imitations have sprung up. The Brinkman is one, and the Dorcy is another. The Dorcy "Spyder Tactical Xenon Light" is available at Lowes Home Improvement store for $19.99.
The Dorcy STXL is of shiny "aircraft grade anodized aluminum" construction, with a black rubber grip; and definitely has a "bling bling" factor. It weighs 4 ounces, including 2 lithium CR123 batteries. (You can buy the batteries at a really good price at Surefire.Com) The length is 4 13/16 inches. The barrel is 7/8 inch in diameter, and the relector end is 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The batteries are included in the price, as well as a nylon belt loop carrying case.
The bulb is a High Pressure Xenon Bi-Pin Bulb 4.8, 1.22A; putting out 119.5 lumens. It advertises as "10x brighter than a standard flashlight," and I believe the advertising. I flashed it in my own eyes just momentarily, and it was definitely blinding. When you shine it at the wall, you get just a pure bright spot, with no visible "artifacts" or lines through the brightness. At four yards, the bright illuminated area is about 2 feet wide. At 12 yards, the area is about 6 feet wide, but still quite bright.
There is a push button switch in the end of the battery cap of the Dorcy Spyder TXL. Push the button once, it's on. Push the button again, it's off. There is no control for dimming the light.
For someone on a budget, the Dorcy Spyder TXL is a nice substitute for the more expensive lights. It's small, light and bright, and looks good with my Kel-Tec P-3AT. I also like it because it's made in Taiwan, instead of Communist China, like everything else these days.
